Kettlebell Fat Loss & Strength Program Testimonials

Total Loss after completing the Kettlebell Fat Loss & Strength Program was
11lbs. 3 1/2% Body Fat, 2 inches
I started attending UKBF personal training session with Monique approximately one year ago. I have struggled training due to many limitations from past injuries to my knees, right shoulder, right hand, and left wrist. I would wake up a couple of days each week with a joint that was unable to function. After three months of personal sessions with Monique, I was willing to attempt the 16-week Kettlebell program. I was nervous; it meant committing to changing the way I ate and working out at a high level 3 times a week. I wasn’t sure if my body could handle it. I threw up during the first session, twice. And I struggled mightily with the eating. It became clear that I was trying to change too much. I backed off on the diet changes but committed to showing up three times every week. I gained muscle, fast!! In the first four weeks I added 2.5 inches of muscle to my thighs. I was getting stronger which made it easier to continue to come. More importantly, I stopped waking up with joint problems. Stopped! I stuck with the program for the full 16 weeks. Though I didn’t experience much change in weight due to my not changing my diet, I had a significant increase in muscle and in strength. It has been 6 months since the program ended and I have continued to show up to the same classes, three times a week, every week. I can do so many things I could not do one year ago. I love kettlebell training! All my injuries had kept me from being active. Now I am no longer limited by them. I still have to be smart about what I lift and how I lift it. But I am able. I am excited for the Kettlebell program to start up again. This year I will add on the challenge of changing how I eat. I am excited to see the difference that will make.
KETTLE BELL FAT LOSS & STRENGTH PROGRAM TESTIMONIAL
I've been a member of UKB since 2006 and became an AKB instructor in 2015. I have participated in the Kettlebell Fat Loss & Strength program since the program's opening year. This year will be my 5th burn. In my first year doing the program, I had just had my first child. With Monique and Wendy's instruction and consistent attendance, I was able to learn the basics. At first I was frustrated because it took some time to learn correct form. I also felt like I wasn't getting a good workout. I expected immediate results. However, after improving my form with practice, I was able to move forward heavier bells and I realized that the transition would have been impossible without all of the practice with the basics. I began to see my strength, energy, & confidence increase and I was motivated to discover my limits during the second year of the program. I was surprised to see that I could lift with power and control even when I increased my bell weight. I saw my body begin to tone even after doing cardio in AKB.
Upon discovering I was pregnant with the second baby in 2014, I enrolled in the program a 3rd time (which was enthusiastically encouraged by my OB). It gave me so much more energy and confidence. It was also a welcome relief when the pregnancy no longer allowed me to do the cardio. I was surrounded by such empowering women with so much positive energy and support. Steph and the other instructors gave me so many options for modification and alternative movement as my belly started to grow. In addition, Martha supervised and watched my form for safety and improvement. Although I couldn't finish the last 3 weeks due to my discomfort caused by my size, working out through the duration of the pregnancy made it so much easier to transition back to my routine after the baby was born.
I was able to return to the gym 3 weeks after the birth of my daughter. My OB and instructors believe that my consistency in the workout during the pregnancy contributed to the short period of time it took to reaching my pre-pregnancy workout progress. At first it was depressing because I had to use my maternity workout wear, but I was happy to be there. In addition, the shift back into the routine gave me the drive I needed to overcome the crazy postpartum hormones. I strongly believe that the encouragement of the instructors and the support of the members in my class was the inspiration I needed to return and attend consistently despite my frustration with my baby weight and struggle to be patient with myself. It was also just plain fun.
Because of the program and my quick return to my regular workout, I was able to return to my pre-pregnancy body more quickly (the first pregnancy took almost 2 years). I was able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans about 12 weeks after the baby's birth (regular, NOT C-section). I began to see the tone and energy come back and began to feel more confident which gave me the motivation to reach my goals.
I believe the program works. Participants will see results if they are committed, patient, attend regularly, and listen and follow the instructors' guidelines. The program has made me healthier, happier, and more confident in all areas of my life. It also resulted in making friends who serve as a wonderful support system.

"I joined UKB in May 2013 when I started my fitness journey. Like many, I just stuck to the cardio classes. Though I saw results, I quickly plateaued and knew I needed something more. "The Burn" started that following January. Starting "The Burn" was the best decision I ever made. Not only have I gone down 3 pant sizes, but I feel wonderful and stronger. I am in better shape than I was when I played college basketball. "The Burn" has not only gotten me addicted to kettlebells, but the nutrition program as well has gotten me to the healthiest I have ever been. Big thanks to the kettlebell instructors for this awesome program and implementing this lifestyle change."

Lost 10lbs, 3% body fat, and went from pants size 13 to a 10
1hr. a day, 3 days a week, for 16 weeks
"After 75lb. weight loss, I hit a plateau and was 10 lbs. away from reaching my personal goal. I heard about "The Burn" and although I did not know what it was about or what a kettlebell was, I decided to sign up with my daughter. It was the best decision I ever made for myself. I lost the 10lbs and reached my personal weight goal/ I dropped a full pant size, but most importantly, I gained strength and body definition. The instructors were all so encouraging and really focused on proper technique. I am glad I took the challenge and I'm beyond pleased with the results."

I have always been just average never having the body I would like, but I never considered myself fat and I was always comfortable in my skin. In January 2012 I had my beautiful daughter; losing the baby weight and getting in shape was the last thing on my mind.
After my friend Kelly did the Kettlebell Fat Loss and Strength Burn at Ultimate Kickboxing & Fitness in 2012 and received amazing results, I decided to give the gym a try. The first kickboxing class I tried, I could barely make it through and I knew I was way out of shape. There was something that I just really liked about the gym so I decided to join. I started going in July 2012 to kettlebells once or twice a week or whenever I felt like going, not being consistent at all. I got stronger with the training but I didn't lose any weight. I wasn't committed. I only went sometimes and still ate whatever I wanted. During the holidays I didn't go at all and decided in January 2013 to get back in the gym. This summer I was going to have a toddler to keep up with and I wanted to get into shape.
Once I started the Kettlebell Fat Loss Program I was all in. I started using My net diary to track my food and treated the gym like a job, making no excuses not to go, and only missing if I had to work. After losing 7 lbs in the first phase I thought, “I could really do this.” During phase 2 I found myself having a little more energy here and there and even finding it easier to do everyday things. As silly as it might sound even when I would sweep and mop the floor it seamed much easier and I could get it done much faster. Then during phase 3 my job made it really hard to make it to all 3 classes, so I went out and I purchased my own kettle bells. I was able to get my training in at home.
Everyone at Ultimate Kickboxing is so encouraging and motivating not only the trainers but the people I train with. I am always being challenged with every class I attend. I have met some amazing people who continue to push me to try new things. If I can do it anyone can do it, you just have to want it. I would recommend this gym to anyone who wants to try something new with their fitness or even a beginner like me.
Congratulations are in order for our member Kelly Azelton!
After participating in a Kettlebell Program here at our gym, just 1 hour a day, 3 days a week, 16 weeks, she has had tremendous results that anyone would be proud of.
She lost 21lbs, dropped 5% Body fat, lost 1 inch in her arm, 6 inches in her stomach, 1 inch in her thigh, and 2 inches in her hips. She went from a pant size of 16 to a 10!
In December of 2011, I was a happy mother of a 2 year old and a 5 month old little boys. But I was very unhappy with what I looked at in the mirror, and how little bit of energy I had. So I secretly decided, like millions of other Americans, to start a weight loss plan on January 1st. My husband has always been very motivating and supportive of eating healthy and teaching our boys good eating habits. So when he realized how motivated I was to lose weight he was right with me. One day a good friend of mine posted on Facebook asking if anyone would be interested in taking a Kettle bellclass with her, starting in February. I have never done Kettle bells or even cared to find out what they were, but figured it would be a goodopportunity to visit with a good friend a few times a week and get a little bit of exercise in. Little did I know, what I signed myself up for!
With the Kettle Bell Burn I was sweating and working muscles Ihaven't felt since my competitioncheer leading days. The best part I started feeling like I had way more energy, and I honestly felt stronger than before. I even started noticing changes in the way my clothes fit very quickly. I figured, I feel better, I look better, and I am in a better mood than I have been in a very long time. It clicked in my head that I was no longer going to be doing the temporary fix by dieting, but I was now making a lifestyle change for me and my family. The 1st day we came to the Kettle bell basics class, my friend told me that she may be getting a new job that wouldn't allow her to actually be able to take the class for very long. But there was something about the gym that clicked something in my head to continue even if it was by myself. I was intrigued by the work out I got with out having to do intense cardio, I loved that fact that I could turn to a personal trainer to ask for help at any given moment and count on them to show me when I was doing the exercise wrong. I love the idea of classes, knowing that I have a certain class to go to at a certain time, helps to keep me accountable. I now know that to say that I used to work out at a gym once in a while was a complete falsity. I would put "work out" clothes on, I would make the drive, I would listen to head phones while I waited and then eventually walked on a treadmill and then after 45 min. of going through the motions, I would look at the clock and say "ok im good" and walk out looking the same as when I came in. After Kettle bells I was sweaty sweaty and haggered, my heart racing still, and the occasional near throw up experience, which I know now is how you should feel after a good work out. And even though I know I don't necessarily do the moves the right way all the time, it felt good knowing that I was leaving knowing that I did something that would get me one step closer to my goal. The Kettle bell burn was the perfect class for me to jump start a new change in my life with an eating plan. I changed my motto that I was eating to fuel my body and not to feed a craving. It helped me to see that with persistance, I could reach a higher goal. I am that person that is very uncomfortable starting something new by myself and to be the "odd ball" in the middle of a bunch of professionals, but once I got over it and realized no one cared what I was doing, I was able to really focus on trying to perfect the moves. I look back now and see that God had my friend open that door of opportunity for me so I could start and not be too scarred to do it alone. For me, kettlebells is my turn to work out, it has given me the confidence to try kickboxing and more which I would not have tried before. Ultimate kickboxing, Monique, Wendy, Steph and all the other trainers are a blessing to me and this gym is unlike any other. Your time will never be wasted by coming here and trying a class.
After my second baby, I was frustrated with my weight. I had always been slender and both pregnancies took there toll. I gained 60lbs. with eeach baby and I couldn't get the weight off on my own. I felt like I was a healthy eater..lots of veggies, fruits, good meats etc. I was convinced that there was something wrong with me. I went to a nutritionist and he told me to binge until 4pm and stop eating until the next day. Crazy! I desperately called Monique one day committed to setting up intense personal training. I needed something that wouldn't take up a lot of time, intense and also looked at how I ate. When I went over what I ate and how often, she told me that I was starving myself. Even though I was eating healthy foods, I wasn't eating enough and my meals were too infrequent. She encouraged me to try the Kettlebell Fat Loss Program that incorporated Kettlebells and a food program. A few weeks later, the program started and I jumped in with both feet. I went 3 nights a week, 45-50 minute workouts and I balanced my diet. I eat the same things I always have but smaller portions and definitely more balanced. My issue was protein and not getting nearly enough of it. I am not a big meat eater so I added protein powder and I use it as a protein supplement with my 5 meals a day. The weight just started coming off immediately. I began losing about 2 lbs. a week and so far I have lost about 35 lbs. I feel like I have reached my goal. I'm leaner and stronger than I have ever been. My goal now is to maintain what I have achieved. Thanks you guys, you are amazing! Ana
